Simple Weddings

Simple weddings have become vastly undervalued as people have subscribed to the notion that ‘bigger is better’. As weddings have become exceedingly more elaborate, premarital anxiety has increased for all members of the wedding party. Common reasons for stress and anxiety surrounding the pending nuptials are:
- The expense of elaborate wedding plans.
- Issues with control over the wedding (not so much of problem between the betrothed couple; usually issues arise from within the bridal party).
- Becoming emotionally distant from your fiance due to spending large amounts of time planning the wedding.
As you can see, even not being worried about the budget, simple weddings can make the quality of the event so much more enjoyable. You want to get along and enjoy your bridal party, after all they are your close friends. And of course you want to be making the most of your time with your fiance, as soon you will no longer be engaged; you will actually be married! So you want to reduce anything superfluous. You need to assess what is important to your wedding:
- Is it having the Vera Wang gown?
If you know it is going to make you feel like a celebrity or royalty, then this may be an area for consideration. You might want to adjust your budget and/or time to invest in finding the dress.
- Is it having a nice reception?
If so then maybe think about inviting a portion of your guests to the reception after the ceremony. You can have an elegant and affordable reception with just a few minor adjustments.
- Is it the guest list?
This can be a real breaking point for simple weddings; if you over-invite, things tend to get hectic real quick. But you must have the really important people there otherwise you will regret it. And the last thing that anybody wants is looking back on their wedding day with any kind of regret. The beauty of simple weddings is that they are on average less expensive, less stress, and more fun!
